Since early 2010, Gerhard Schubert GmbH's top loading machines are equipped with linear transport units - the so-called "transmodules" - which ensure the reliable transport of packages and their contents, such as for instance Easter bunnies or yogurt.

They replace conventional vacuum conveyors and took two years of intensive work to develop. Working in partnership with Gerhard Schubert GmbH, Bosch Rexroth helped turn the initial idea into a product that is ready for series production. The transmodule's drive technology is based on the decentralized drives of the Rexroth IndraDrive Mi family. The transmodule works independently and wirelessly.

With the help of the transmodule, Gerhard Schubert GmbH presented the world's first fully-automatic tool change in a packaging machine at interpack 2011. Such a transmodule is loaded with the new tools in the tool changer module of a top loading machine. The machine then transports the transmodule reliably to the robotic grippers in the machine which are automatically changed over to the new product, at a time saving of around 60%.
For these innovations, Steffen Winkler, Bosch Rexroth AG's Vice President Sales and Industry Sector Management Printing and Packaging, presented the "Rexroth Packaging Innovation Award 2011" to Mr. Gerhard Schubert.

An additional ten innovations were on display as part of the "Rexroth Innovations Tour" featured at the tradeshow. In total, over 300 machine manufacturers opt for state-of-the-art technology from Bosch Rexroth.

Bosch Rexroth demonstrates its automation solutions live at its exhibition stand with three real customer machines from the top 3 regions of packaging machine manufacturers around the globe.

From Germany, there is a filling machine by Bosch Packaging Technology; Italy is represented with its compact Delta "Triaflex" Robot by Carma Group; and from the US, KHS Bartelt Inc. features a form fill and seal machine.
